Landowner shot dead

A landowner was shot dead as she tried to fight back when the gunman allegedly tried to rob her in Hacienda Locsin, Brgy. Santa Rosa, Murcia, Negros Occidental, at about 10:30 a.m. yesterday, the police said.
Senior Inspector Norberto Barniso, Murcia police chief, identified the victim as Maria Theresa Bernardita Regalado Locsin, 56, owner of Hacienda Locsin, who succumbed to gunshot wounds on the upper part of her body.
Locsin was declared dead on arrival at the Doctor’s Hospital in Bacolod City, Barniso said.
Queenie wrecks 641 houses
in Negros, Capitol giving aid

The number of houses destroyed and damaged by Tropical Depression Queenie in Negros Occidental rose to 641 yesterday, with 612 located in Cauayan town.
Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. said financial assistance will be provided by the provincial government Monday to those whose houses were slammed by Queenie, but the amount was still being computed as of press time yesterday.
The governor noted that the victims of Queenie were the poor living in houses made of light materials.

Ma’s body found; Queenie
affects 14 brgys in NegOr

The body of a woman who was carried downstream with her daughter by flashfloods during tropical depression Queenie Thursday as they were crossing a creek in Cambaye,
was recovered yesterday morning at a barangay in Tayasan, Negros Oriental.
Tayasan Mayor Susano Ruperto Jr. said the body of Hanilyn Andales, 25, was found stuck in the debris at the riverbank in Barangay Sukib, several hundred meters from her residence in Sitio Pasong, Barangay Cambaye..
