Skeletal remains discovered
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Human skeletal remains were found in the sugarcane field in Purok Katubhan, Barangay Bajumpandan in Dumaguete City yesterday morning.

The remains were found by Antonio Turtal and eight other cane cutters, who were hired to harvest the fully grown sugarcane. He said the remains were scattered in  the sugarcane field owned  by Baby Ong.

Responding policemen also found a pair of slippers, two short pants, a handkerchief, a ball cap, a sweatshirt and an underwear, all of them almost rotten.

However, Dumaguete chief of police, Supt. James Goforth, said the remains could have been thrown in that  place, that  is a few meters away from where Catherine Sinuag, 8, was also found murdered more than a year ago.

A woman told the police her brother had gone missing two years ago. She said it does not matter if he is dead so long as they can  find his body and give him a decent burial.

But she could not identify  the clothes found as  being  those of her brother.*JG
