The Dumaguete City Peace and Order Council recently approved the purchase of P225,000 worth of equipment, like radio transceivers, handsets, and CCTV cameras, and the repair of dilapidated structures used by law enforcement agencies in Dumaguete recently.
Approved for acquisition are 15 heavy-duty padlocks for the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Bajumpandan, to replace worn-out padlocks, worth P17,250, and six closed-circuit television cameras for the male dormitory, worth P65,000.
District jail warden, Senior Insp. Josephus Jelianggao, said they want to strengthen their security because inmates the worn-out padlocks might enable inmates to escape.
For the female dormitory, the CPOC approved the purchase of two portable two-way radios, and a base radio worth P24,000. There is also a request to establish a police outpost near the district jail in Bajumpandan.
Also to be acquired are 20 transceiver antennas worth P14,000, low maintenance batteries - P20,670, eight boxes of drug test kits for marijuana and shabu for the police crime lab, repair of the roofing of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, worth P30,000, fabrication of anti-drug abuse billboards for distribution in five drug-infested barangays in Dumaguete - P58,500, purchase of four double locking nickel handcuff, rechargeable LED flashlights, and more handheld radios for Task Force SAGARR, among others.*JG
