The body of a woman who was carried downstream with her daughter by flashfloods during tropical depression Queenie Thursday as they were crossing a creek in Cambaye,

was recovered yesterday morning at a barangay in Tayasan, Negros Oriental.

Tayasan Mayor Susano Ruperto Jr. said the body of Hanilyn Andales, 25, was found stuck in the debris at the riverbank in Barangay Sukib, several hundred meters from her residence in Sitio Pasong, Barangay Cambaye.

NOPH doctor seeks help from CHR

Another complainant appeared before the office of the Commission on Human Rights in Dumaguete City against a woman doctor of the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital for alleged maltreatment and other “abuses”.

Catalina Ybio Avila, 67, of Barangay Sto. Niño in San Jose, Negros Oriental, told CHR Negros Oriental chief Jess Cañete Thursday, that she and her husband also had a bad experience with Dr. Jocelyn Maningo.

Avila said she has come out to support the other complaints that she heard on the radio against Maningo, who is now the subject of a CHR investigation.

A Chinese businessman, charged with rape by the police is now detained at the Dumaguete City police station.

The suspect, who in his mid-30s, was arrested when his stay-in house helper complained that she was forced to perform oral sex for him at his house that police sources said is considered rape under the law.

The woman, aided by the police, filed a complaint against the Chinese businessman before the Office of the City Prosecutor Tuesday and a suspect was picked up late Sunday. Prosecutor Andre Jacobo is handling the case.
