Mayor Monico Puentevella said 3,400 Koreans will visit Bacolod City via Korean travel agents, a press release from the city hall said.
Puentevella said JungAng Travel, Mode Travel, Expo Travel, Noran PoonSun Travel, Ilsung Travel are among those who would like to open the tourism market of Bacolod to Korean golfers.
The mayor also said he conferred with Asiana Airlines; a Korean based national airline company, and said the company will “cater” direct flights from Korea to Bacolod.
The proposed flights will run from Dec. 11, 2014 to March 1, 2015. Twenty-three flights will be scheduled every Thursday and Sunday of the week with an approximate number of 3500 passengers with 150 passengers per flight, the press release said.
The estimated fuel requirement will be at 13, 500 liters per flight or a total of 310, 500 liters for 23 flights.
Puentevella said he believes that this will greatly help the tourism in the city and the strengthening of the friendship with Korea, the press release said.
The initiative was made possible by Petron Corporation president Lubin Nepomuceno, who granted the request for assistance to refuel the chartered flights from Korea to Bacolod with the installation of a refueling station at the Bacolod-Silay International Airport, the press release added.*
