House helper found positive
for rape, says BCPO-WCPD

BY SHIELA GELERA

The 15-year-old house helper in Bacolod City, who was allegedly abused by her employer, was found positive for rape, Inspector Jinky Lou Ramos, chief of the Bacolod Police Women and Children Protection Desk, said yesterday.

The girl’s younger sister, 13, was also rescued from the house of the employer by the WCPD personnel with the help of a social worker at about 4 p.m. Monday, Ramos said.

Only a woman, who introduced herself as the sister of the employer, was at the house during the rescue operation, since the suspect works outside the province, Ramos said.

She said Inday (not her real name) was found positive for sexual abuse, as shown by the result of a medical examination conducted on her Monday.

Inday escaped from the house of her employer last week and a concerned citizen, who saw her at a waiting shed in a barangay in Bacolod, helped her in seeking assistance from the authorities.

Ramos said Inday alleged that the suspect molested her several times since May 30, 2014, pointed a knife at her and threatened to kill her if she let anyone know what was done to her.

Inday’s sister was also subjected to a medical examination yesterday to make sure that she had not suffered abuse, even when she had already claimed that the employer did not molest her, Ramos said.

The WCPD was still gathering more evidences and readying documentary requirements for the filing of rape charges against the employer, whose name they withheld.

The mother of the sisters, who came from the southern part of Negros Occidental, has already been informed about the incident, Ramos said.

Poverty had pushed the mother to let her two children work as house helpers to the employer, who was referred to them by their family friend, Ramos said.

She said the father of the two girls is sick and they still have four younger siblings.

The minor victims are now in the custody of the WCPD.*SGG
