MANILA – Aside from a long weekend, consumers are expected to start an enjoyable week with oil companies announcing cuts on its oil products today.
Petron Corporation, PTT Philippines and Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation (PSPC) will roll back their gas prices effective 12:01 a.m. today.
The two oil companies will reduce their gas prices by 15 centavos per liter, while PSPC will lower its petroleum product by 10 centavos per liter.


Solar panels eyed in Bago
Bago Mayor Ramon Torres said Saturday the Energy Development Corp. asked for an endorsement from the Bago City Government to install solar panels in Brgy. Mailum, Bago City that can generate 2 to 3 megawatts of electricity.
Torres said the panels will be placed in the area where EDC had planned to expand its geothermal plant.
Bago Vice Mayor Nicholas Yulo said the request of EDC will be endorsed to the Committee on Environment and Natural Protection and pass through the plenary at the Sangguniang Panlungsod.


We planted 1M trees
in Neg. Occ. - EDC
The Energy Development Corp. has planted more than a million trees on 1,300 hectares it has reforested in Negros Occidental from 1995 to 2013, Allan Barcena, EDC's Ecosystems Care Manager, said in a press release yesterday.
In fact, he said, it has planted on 186 hectares in Negros Occidental, way before it started operating the Northern Negros Geothermal Project in Bago City as proof of its commitment to preserve the forests.
Reforestation has always been integrated in EDC's operations because it is vital to its business sustainability, he said.
