The body of a woman, who drowned at the Pandanon Valley Resort in Barangay Pandanon, Murcia town in Negros Occidental Saturday, was found floating in the river, that was about 6 kilometers away from the resort at about 12:30 p.m. yesterday.
Guendolyne Gellera, 25, drowned while her companion Rachelle Penales, 27, of Binalbagan town in Negros Occidental, was rescued when a flash flood occurred at about 3:45 p.m. Saturday, Police Officer 3 Donald Garde, Murcia Police duty investigator, said yesterday.
Investigation showed that Gellera and Penales were swimming in the river when a strong current of water carried them. Only Penales was rescued and brought to the town clinic by rescuers, Garde said.
He said the management of the resort had warned Gellera and Penales to avoid swimming in that area of the creek since flash floods occur there unexpectedly.
The body of Gellera, that was already bloated, was brought to the St. Peter Funeral Parlor in Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City, Garde said.*SGG
