The proposed Negros Occidental provincial government budget for 2015 is P2.637 billion, or an increase of P347 million from P2.290 billion this year, Provincial Administrator Enrique Pinongan said yesterday.
The proposed budget has to be submitted to Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. for signing, after which it will be transmitted to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for approval, he said.
“We expect to transmit the proposed budget to the SP on or before October 16 , the deadline for submission,” he said..
The Bureau of Internal Revenue has been asked by Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella to wait after the MassKara Festival before closing any delinquent business entity in Bacolod City.
The Bacolod Diamond Palace at Hilado Street in Brgy. Villamonte was padlocked Wednesday by the BIR for alleged under-declaration of its taxable sales by more than 30 percent.
Its closure was pursuant to section 115 of the Tax Code of 1997 and as part of the Oplan Kandado of the BIR, Jose Ric Cabrera, chief of the BIR Regional Office 12 Legal Division in Bacolod City, said.
P334,000 ‘shabu’ seized
in Dumaguete, Tanjay

A jobless resident of the Cadawinonan Housing Project in Dumaguete City was arrested yesterday, after 25 to 30 grams of suspected shabu were seized from him in a search by the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group, headed by Insp. Marvin Fegarido.
Nabbed was Arnaldo Catubay, 27, alias “Toto” who is suspected of being a distributor of illegal drugs in the area.
The search warrant was issued by RTC Executive Judge Gerardo Paquio Jr.
