SM executive lauds NU Bulldogs

SM Prime Holdings president Hans Sy, one of the chief benefactors of the National University, said it was a team win that made the Bulldogs capture the title against the Far Eastern University Tamaraws at the UAAP Season 77 men’s basketball after 60 years.

Sy pointed out that that not a single NU Bulldog made it in the Mythical Five Selection and the team does not have a “superstar” in the lineup, yet they managed to win the championship.

He also credited coach Eric Altamirano for imposing a discipline that is based on trust and confidence, and not on fear among the NU Bulldogs.

This team spirit, he said, is the advantage of the Bulldogs and any development they will have for the team will be geared towards this direction, Sy said.

Securing the last seat into the Final Four of the UAAP, the Bulldogs beat twice top-ranked Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles to arrange a best-of-three final showdown with the FEU Tamaraws.

They lost in the first game, 70-75, but bounced back in game two as they tamed the Tamaraws, 62-47. The 75-59 win in game three was a testament of the team’s maturity in handling the pressures and living up to the expectations of the NU community.*NAB
