Ferrer open to
options in 2016 polls

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer, now on his last term as a congressman of the 4th district of Negros Occidental, admitted yesterday that he is open to all options, on whether to run either for vice-governor, board member or mayor, in the 2016 elections.

Ferrer said he has yet to decide what position he will go for. One thing definite, however, he said, is that they already have a congressional candidate for the district, and will announce at the proper time.

Mayor Ramon Torres is now on his third term as mayor of Bago City while Mayor Juliet Ferrer, wife of Rep. Ferrer will be on her third term should she decide to seek reelection as mayor of La Carlota.

Liza Cojuangco-Cruz, daughter of business tycoon Eduardo Cojuangco, has reportedly registered to vote in Pontevedra, fueling speculations that she may run for public office in the fourth district of Negros Occidental.

It is rumored that Cojuangco-Cruz could is eyeing either the mayorship of Pontevedra, or the fourth congressional seat.

Ferrer said his alliance with Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. whom he had supported during the 2012 elections, remains strong.

Asked why he failed to attend the Macau bonding with Love Negros and Negros First members, headed by Rep. Alfredo Benitez and Gov. Alfredo Maranon, Ferrer said he had lots of work to attend to.

It also showed that they are reaching out to one another, after the election, he added.* GPB
