Bacolod police to start
seal off of plaza tonight

BY SHIELA GELERA

The Bacolod City Public Plaza will be sealed off by policemen starting 6 p.m. today until Monday morning, Senior Inspector Joefer Cabural, Police Station 1 commander, said yesterday.

Body frisking and bag inspections will be conducted at the six entrances going to the plaza, each of which will be manned by a minimum of six policemen, Cabural said.

He said the frisking is a good deterrence to crime and also to intercept contrabands such as illegal drugs, guns, beer bottles and sharp objects.

Cabural said 40 out of 60 PNP personnel from the Regional Public Safety Battalion and the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, who were assigned at the Station 1, will be deployed to the Paglaum Sports Complex to secure the 35th MassKara Arena Dance Competition for today’s school category and tomorrow’s barangay category.

The other personnel were assigned at the plaza, Cabural said, adding that during nighttime, they will be divided to man the four Police Assistance Desks at the Carnival Site, St. John Paul II tower, MassKara Food Village, and the plaza.

Force multipliers and the 36 personnel of the Station 1 will also be maximized, Cabural said.

A minimum of 10 policemen and several force multipliers were assigned at the Beer Garden, he said.

A container van has been placed at the Carnival Site to house revelers, who create alarm and scandal during the festivity, he said.*SGG
