PNP going on full alert
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The 1,500-strong Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office will observe full alert status Wednesday, in anticipation of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day Nov. 1 and 2.

Senior Supt. Milko Lirazan, provincial police director of Negros Occidental, yesterday said they will maximize the deployment of policemen in cemeteries, bus terminals and other public places, to deter the commission of crimes.

The police also called for vigilance and for Negrenses to secure their homes, before going to cemeteries.

Lirazan said police officers are not allowed to take leaves of absence while they are observing full alert status.

Thousands of people are expected to flock to cemeteries, churches, transport terminals and other public places on Nov. 1 and 2.

PNP members were again reminded to secure vital installations in Negros Occidental.

Director General Alan Purisima, in a statement, instructed all police regional and  provincial commanders, as well as the Highway Patrol Group to post marshals in major thoroughfares, routes leading to cemeteries and bus terminals.

“The entire PNP will be placed on full alert to provide maximum coverage and public safety services. Also, our intelligence, counter-intelligence and police operations will be intensified to preempt terrorist activities,” Purisima said*GPB
