The Province of Negros Occidental through the Local Governance Support Program for Local Economic Development of the Department of Interior and Local Government is conducting a three-day Basic Tour Guiding Training for Farm Operators as part of the Bacolod-Talisay-Silay tourism circuit development, a press release from the Capitol said.
The training aims to equip 30 participants with the skills on basic farm tour guiding through an interactive workshop and to enhance participants’ understanding on the relation of organic agriculture and the tourism development program of the province, it said.
The participants are hands-on farm operators, key farm personnel, and LGU agriculturists assisting the identified organic and leisure farms located in the cities of Bacolod, Talisay, Silay and Bago, the press release said.
The module includes lectures, writeshops, immersion, and mock tours in different farm areas within the identified circuit.
Among of the speakers are Rene Cortum of the Department of Tourism-Region 6, local artist Rene Hinojales, historian Modesto Sa-onoy, Dean Gina Montes and Prof. Sheryl Pacheco of the Tourism Educators and Movers Philippines-Western Visayas, Ramon Peñalosa and Arch. Andrew Penalosa of Peñalosa Farms, Alliance of Tour Guides in Occidental Negros President Maricar Dabao, tourism officers Cristine Mansinares, Butch Gerasmo, Ver Pacete, Renea Ferrer, and Jennylind Cordero, the press released added.*
