Woman kills cop’s son
BY SHIELA GELERA

The son of a policeman was stabbed and killed by a woman, with whom he had a fight, at San Juan Street in Purok Tahong, Barangay 2 in Bacolod City, at about 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Ezekil Blaza, 20, of Barangay Banago, Bacolod, sustained a lone stab wound on his chest and was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, but he died at about 12:25 a.m. yesterday, police records show.

Investigation showed that Blaza mauled the suspect identified as Lanie Rose Savillo, 24, of Barangay 14 in Bacolod, several times, Police Officer 2 Leomel Guinanao, case investigator of Station 2, said yesterday.

A retractable knife fell from the back pocket of Savillo and she took it to stab Blaza, hitting his chest, Guinanao said.

Savillo is the live-in partner of Lovely Briones, 20, a lesbian, and the former girlfriend of Blaza, who is gay, Guinanao said.

Savillo left the scene of the crime and Briones, who was present when the incident happened, asked for help from Barangay 2 kagawad Clentoy Canlas to bring them to Station 2, where the former voluntarily surrendered the knife she used in the stabbing, Guinanao said.

Briones said she and Blaza had a relationship as lesbian and gay for one year, but they broke up 10 months ago. Briones added that maybe Blaza had not yet moved on after their break-up and could not accept that she is now in a relationship with Savillo.

Savillo, meanwhile, said that she is asking for forgiveness from the family of Blaza, as she was only defending herself, adding that she did not mean to kill him.

Blaza is the son of Senior Police Officer 3 Victor Blaza, chief clerk of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office Operations Branch.

Charges for homicide will be filed today against Savillo, Guinanao said.

Savillo, Briones and their friends had come from a christening celebration and were on their way home when the incident happened.*SGG
