City won’t extend
Enviroking contract

BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

The Bacolod City government will not extend the contract of Enviroking Corp. for solidwaste hauling and disposal services, Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella said yesterday.

Puentevella said a new bidding may be conducted next month that is why he wants the terms of reference done early.

He said he is not satisfied with the services of Enviroking and it is aware about it. But since they did not improve,  a new bidding will be conducted.

Puentevella had signed a P90-million garbage hauling contract with Enviroking early this year that covers the period March 1 to December 31.

The contract covers 10 months, which means that the city has to pay Enviroking  P9 million a month, regardless of the volume of garbage it collects.

Puentevella said the new bidding for solidwaste hauling and disposal service may be conducted in November or December.

This time the contract between the city and the new private contractor will cover one year, he added.*CGS
