P1.5B budget submission
seen by mid-November

Bacolod Councilor Claudio Puentevella yesterday said he hopes to submit to the Sangguniang Panlungsod by the middle of November the proposed  2015 General Fund Budget amounting to P1.550 billion, which shows an increase of about P200 million from last year’s budget.

Puentevella led the first committee hearing on the proposed annual budget of the city at the MassKara Hall of the Bacolod City Government Center yesterday. He said the next budget hearing will be at 9 a.m. tomorrow.

As chairman on the Committee on Finance and Appropriations, he said that the hearing is vital for transparency and to further shed light on SP Correspondence No. 08-14-1230.

Representatives from the City Registrar’s Office, City Accounting Office, Management and Audit Services, City Treasurer’s Office, City Auditor, Management Information, Technology and Computer Services, City Agricultural Services Office and the City Tourism Office also took part in the hearing, the press release said.

Majority of the officials found no issues their allocated budget, although certain queries were raised, including additional budget for job order casuals and the filling of vacant permanent positions.

Meanwhile, MITCS requested for new IT equipment alongside the Tourism Office who identified the need for repairs and maintenance of their computer units and air condition systems.

City Treasurer Giovanni Balalilhi’s request for the installation of Close Circuit Televisions at the Treasurer’s Office will also be pushed through,  the press release added.* CGS
