Tighter security ordered
on CV vital installations

Chief Supt. Prudencio Bañas, Police Regional Office 7 director, yesterday ordered tighter security measures on vital installations in the Central Visayas after a foiled car bomb attack at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport terminal 3 in Manila Monday morning.

Bañas said he directed commanders to take extra precautions in their areas, adding that if it can be done in Manila, it’s not impossible for vital installation in Region 7 to also be targeted.

He said they will intensify their measures to protect these establishments and prevent terrorists from inflicting damage in Central Visayas. Among the vital installations, are air and sea ports, and places where people are most likely to converge.

The objective of terrorists is to conduct this kind of activity and do as much harm as they can, he said.

Supt. Paul Labra, PRO 7 intelligence chief, said he has not received any threat, so far, but he directed the intelligence units in the region to conduct continuous monitoring against terrorism threats.

Labra said he reminded lower units to enhance their target hardening measures regularly so they will not be outplayed by terrorists. He said he recommended that Central Visayas be placed in Under Level Two status, meaning there are no serious threats at the moment.*PNA
