Varsity team dominates Faculty
in SJI Friendship Cup volleyball
Volleyball action heats up at the 3rd SJI Volleyball Friendship Cup with the St. John’s Institute High School Varsity and Batch 2010-14 cruising to their second straight victory at the Msgr. John Liu Activity Center, Saturday.
The Varsity team convincingly won against the SJI Faculty in straight sets, 25-14, 25-11, while Batch 2010-14 tamed Batch 2009 & Earlier in three sets, 20-25, 25-14, and 25-20.
Also posting a win was the Aspirants team against the SJI Mommies 25-17 25-11.

MCAS stays ahead Mulo Car Aircon Services is leading in the premiere division, with Canvil Knights and Condura ASSFBI Ladies II in the non-rated and women’s category of the 27th Sharp Friendship Cup Open Trio Bowling Tournament at the New Top’s Millennium Plaza Alley in Bacolod City. Games resume at 6:30 tonight. After five rounds, MCAS team, led by Romulo Ramos, lead in the rated bracket with 4,703 points followed by sister team ESD Solid Strikers with 4,673. |

Gilas Pilipinas loses close game Gilas Pillipinas dropped yet another close game, this time bowing to world No. 3 Argentina, 81-85, late Monday night (Phil. timetime) in the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Seville, Spain. The Philippines moved within a hairline, 81-82, with still 1:58 left in the game and had a chance to go for a huge upset after a split free throws from Argentina to make it 83-81. But Jason Castro succumbed to pressure from an Argentine defender and was called for traveling violation with only 12 seconds to go. |
