Guv targets: Equitable share
for WV, Negros-Panay bridge

Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday said that, as chairman of the Regional Development Council, he will see to it that Western Visayas gets a more equitable share of the country’s resources.
He will also push the long-time plan to build a bridge that will connect Negros Occidental to Panay, he said.
Marañon is set to outline his goals as RDC chair at a meeting of the body at the National Economic and Development Authority office in Iloilo City Friday.
FBI helps Negrense cops
in bombing investigations

The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation is extending help to the police in Negros Occidental, in bombing post-blast investigation to enhance the investigative capability of police officers.
FBI Special Agent Daric Manser, who had investigated the Boston marathon bombing in the United States in 2013, yesterday shared his expertise and skills in post-blast investigation to 47 police officers in Negros Occidental. The five-day training was sponsored by the provincial government.
Manser is a Special Agent Bomb Technician of the FBI, who used to be stationed at Los Angeles, California..

The son of a lawyer was shot dead in Purok Mutya, Sitio Canday-ong in Barangay Calindagan, Dumaguete City, yesterday.
Police identified the fatality as Nikolai Tolido Hernando, 39, of Capitol area, Barangay Taclobo, who succumbed to several gunshot wounds. The victim, who is the son of lawyer Fernando Hernando, was declared dead on arrival at the Silliman University Medical Center Foundation Inc. in Dumaguete City.
Investigations showed that Hernando had taken his child to school yesterday morning on his black Kawasaki Rauser motorcycle, after which he proceeded to Purok Mutya in Sitio Canday-ong, Calindagan.
