25 entries up for final
judging in VMC art contest
Twenty-five of almost 50 entries provincewide for the 2nd Victorias Milling Company art competition made it to the finals on October 3 at the L’Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City, a press release from the VMC said.
Six artworks were each chosen in the Victorias Elementary and Victorias High School categories during the pre-judging on September 24 at the Victorias Golf and Country Club, and six more made it in the Open Amateur and seven in the Open Professional, in the province-wide category adjudged September 25 at the Negros Museum.
The Victorias Elementary finalists are Zendy Therese Santiago, Ralph Anton Pincale, Sean Llyrad Secosa, all from Victorias North Elementary School, who were chosen along with Joanne Lorraine Lozada of Victorias Jireh Christian Training School, Althea Gwyneth Geroche - St. Mary Mazzarelo School, and Krystal Jayle Batisla-ong - Victorias ES, the press release also said.
In the Victorias High School category, the finalists are Christian Octoso of Victorias National HS, Kerstie Camille Don and Ma. Sophia Onot - St. Mary Mazzarello School, Paulo Ofianga - Victorias NHS Canetown Extension, and Shaun Wendell Rebadomia and Jezreel John Lozada - Don Bosco Technical Institute. Lozada was last year’s grand prize winner.
The finalists in the Open Amateur category, that was opened to elementary and high school students outside of Victorias, were siblings Deanna, Danica and Dia, all surnamed Diocson, of Bacolod City National High School, Danica Althea Villarosa - Crispino V. Ramos ES, Renzo Gulmatico - Domingo Lacson NHS, and Holiver Ramos - Luis Hervias NHS, the press release said.
The seven artists in the Open Professional category are Paul James Dulaca, Jabine Java, and Philippe Jordan Briones, all from Talisay City; Melquiades Camarines, Efraim Purano and Monic Dotimas - Bacolod City, and Alvin Lovena - Cadiz City.
Judges in the Victorias categories were Victorias Councilor Chiz de Dios, Victorias EA and former Board Member Dino Acuna, artist Dave Palanca, architect Mike Limaco and Panaad head Ian de Ramos. In the Open categories, the judges were artists Manny Montelibano, Dr. Adrian Torres, Tanya Lopez and writers Nonoy Espina and Jade Snow Calderon, the press release also said.
Three winners each will be chosen in the Victorias Elementary, High School and Open Amateur categories, with cash prizes for the top winners and computer showcase for the schools they represent, while the top three winners in the Open Professional category will get P30,000, P20,000 and P10,000 for the first, second and third placers, respectively, the press release added.*
