Fish vendor killed by brother
BY SHIELA GELERA

A dried fish vendor died when his older brother hit his head with a wooded pestle, at Villa Villeta in Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City, at about 11:25 p.m. Sunday.

Josue Deguera, 52, succumbed to head injuries and died on the spot, Senior Insp. Benedicto Villarias, Police Station 4 commander, said yesterday.

Investigation showed that Josue, who was allegedly under the influence of intoxicating liquor, went berserk and was holding a cane cutter while threatening to kill his family members, Villarias said.

His brother, Jose, also surnamed Deguera, 54, struck Josue in the head with a pestle twice, breaking his head, Villarias said.

A pestle and a pair of slippers, both with bloodstains, were recovered from the crime scene, police records show.

Villarias said Jose, who fled after the incident, surrendered to Police Station 4 at about 4:20 p.m. yesterday.

The body of Josue is now at the Holy Angel Funeral Parlor in Barangay 24, Bacolod, and charges for homicide are being readied against Jose, Villarias also said.*SGG
