Negros jail yields weapons, A surprise inspection held yesterday at the Negros Oriental Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Dumaguete City, by a police team led by deputy provincial commander for operations, Supt. Reynold Andot, yielded assorted illegal drugs paraphernalia such as tinfoil, tooters, empty sachets of suspected shabu, and bladed weapons. The Operation Greyhound was aimed at flushing out contraband items from the prison cells of the provincial jail. After the inspection, Gov. Roel Degamo ordered the demolition of structures, called kubols, inside the jail. He said he had received reports that the “kubols” were being used by guards and trusted detainees of the provincial jail, and detainees with health problems. |
