DOLE issues holiday pay
rules for private sector

Private sector employees who are going to work today or "Araw ng Kagitingan," a regular holiday, are entitled to 200 percent of his/her regular salary.

Based on the pay rules issued by the Department of Labor and Employment through Labor Advisory No. 18 dated March 25, 2015, workers shall be paid 200 percent of his/her regular salary for that day for the first eight hours [(Daily rate + COLA) x 200 percent]. COLA means Cost-of-Living Allowance.

If the employee worked in excess of eight hours (overtime work), he/she shall be paid an additional 30 percent of his/her hourly rate on said day [Hourly rate of the basic daily wage x 200 percent x 120 percent number of hours worked].

Congressional job fair today

Bacolod Rep. Evelio Leonardia said about 31,000 jobs will be available from the 32 international and local companies participating in the Congressional Job Fair that will open today at the fountain area of Robinsons Place Bacolod.

Of this number, 5,000 are local job openings, and 26,000 abroad, Leonardia said.

More than 3,000 jobseekers are expected to troop to the job fair today, that opens at 9 a.m., an hour ahead of mall hours, and will continue until 6 p.m., a press release from his office said.
