Bacolod Rep. Evelio Leonardia said about 31,000 jobs will be available from the 32 international and local companies participating in the Congressional Job Fair that will open today at the fountain area of Robinsons Place Bacolod.
Of this number, 5,000 are local job openings, and 26,000 abroad, Leonardia said.
More than 3,000 jobseekers are expected to troop to the job fair today, that opens at 9 a.m., an hour ahead of mall hours, and will continue until 6 p.m., a press release from his office said.
There will be no noon break and no fees will be collected, he said.
Moises de la Cruz, coordinator of the job fair, said the congressional office held a pre-registration on April 6-7 for early job-matching.
There were 2,746 applicants who registered in two days, and this number is expected to increase in the job fair proper today.
De la Cruz reminded the applicants to bring pertinent documents such as resume, 2x2 ID photo, transcript of records or high school card, and certificate of employment.
He said the companies guarantee on-the-spot hiring if the applicants are qualified, and have brought the required documents. Even those applying for work abroad can be hired on the spot, so applicants must bring their valid passports, he added.
The 11 agencies hiring for work abroad and are licensed by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration are LEAD Resources Management Corp., Placewell International Services Corp., Oman-Fil International, LV Universal, YWA Human Resources, East West Placement, Al Alamia, Mori International, MMML, Victoria Services, and Career Planners.
There will be 10 business process outsourcing companies, or call centers, that are also hiring, which are TeleTech, Transcom, Convergys, Teleperformance, Alliance, Telequest, JP Morgan, Sitel, Sykes, and Hinduja.
Other local companies hiring are San Miguel Corp., Cebu Mitsumi, SYL Distributor, NRICH General Services, Motortrade, JGM Finance Corp., VCY Sales Corp., ZFA Lending Corp., Robinsons Place, Amaia, and Travel Lounge.
De la Cruz said the Congressional Job Fair is in partnership with the Public Service Employment Office Provincial Office, Philippine Call Center Institute-Bacolod, Department of Labor and Employment, POEA, and GMA Network-Bacolod.*
