SU president's term
extended until 2018
BY RENE GENOVE

The Board of Trustees of Silliman University in Dumaguete City unanimously voted to extend the term of Ben Malayang III as president of SU for two more years, or from June 1, 2016 to May 31, 2018.

Trustee and corporate secretary Grace Sumalpong said the decision of the Board reinforces the need to sustain the strategic direction of the university through critical years of reforms in Philippine higher education.

Sumalpong said a search committee in the Board was organized to identify, screen, and nominate a new president before the extended term of Malayang expires.

Malayang is the 12 th president of Silliman. He assumed office on June 1, 2006, for a term of five years. In 2010, the Board of Trustees unanimously granted him a second term of five years, that will end next year.*RG/JFP
