‘child-friendly' audit
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

The Dumaguete City government passed the 2014 Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance by the Council for the Welfare of Children, for its commitment to promote child rights to survival, development, protection and participation, towards a “Child-Friendly Philippines: A Caring and Protective Society For, By, and With the Children”.

Farah Gentuya, head of the Department of Interior and Local Government in Dumaguete City said the Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit is a results-based assessment tool and a mandatory audit spearheaded by the DILG, in coordination with the CWC, and the departments of Education, and Social Welfare and Development.

The CFLGA is designed to identify the results of the LGU programs for children.

The Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance is a recognition system conferred on LGUs that deliver positive results for children's well-being. Those who pass the CFLGA will be conferred the SCFLG.

In Central Visayas, 85 of the 132 LGUs audited passed and were conferred the 2014 Seal of Child- Friendly Local Governance.

Meanwhile, Dumaguete City got a high satisfaction rating in the recent Citizen's Satisfaction Index System conducted by Silliman University.

CSIS is an assessment tool for the service delivery performance of local governments based largely on the knowledge, experience and perception of the people, a press release from the city said.

It is a client/citizen perception-based performance assessment that measures the respondent's awareness, availment, and assessment/satisfaction of the different services currently offered by the LGU, like health services, support to education, social welfare services, governance and response, public works and infrastructure, environmental management, agricultural support and tourism support, the press release said.*JFP/PR
