Bacoleñas capture gold, 2 silver medals
in ASEAN Taekwondo Championships
Thirteen-year-old Shaira Isabel Garbanzos prevailed over her Vietnamese rival in the final round to capture the gold medal in the 51 kgs. Cadet division of the 12 th ASEAN Taekwondo Federation Championships 2015 held in Ho Chi Minh City.
Garbanzos, an incoming Grade 8 student from University of St. La Salle, was one of the three taekwondo jins from the Negros Taekwondo Union, who were tapped to join the national team and represent the country in the tournament.
With her were Irene Therese Bermejo and Camille Andrea Miraflores, who bagged the silver medal in their respective events to help the Philippine Team secure a first runner-up finish behind host Vietnam in the competition.

NOFA U13 tournament The Negros Occidental Football Association Under 13 Invitational Cup kicks off 8 a.m. today at the Panaad pitch in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City. Twelve teams from around the country will participate in the 9-aside football competition organized by the Negros Occidental Football Association and Dynamic Football Club. Manila teams are those of Malaya FC, La Salle Greens, Forza FC and Xavier School, while Barotac Nuevo, Santa Barbara and I, Pagasa teams are from Iloilo. |

VMA Sharks to hold tryouts Male college freshmen willing to avail of athletic scholarship can join the basketball tryout of the Visayan Maritime Academy Global College in Brgy. Sum-ag southof Bacolod City. Tryout starts at 8 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays until end of the month, coaches John Tumamot, Rex Bayer and Gudoy Cipriano said. Interested students may look for the coaching staff or report directly to the VMA gym during the tryout. |
