Painting awarding
today in Bais
BY RENE GENOVE

A media caravan for nutrition will be held by the National Nutrition Council Region VII and the Media Information Network for Nutrition and Development 7 and the winners of the mural painting competition will be awarded today in Bais City, Negros Oriental.

Mind 7 is an organization of media practitioners from print, radio, television and social media that supports nutrition advocacy and promotion in Central Visayas. The mural painting competition aims to promote good health through proper nutrition, a press release from the group said.

The mural painting competition started April 7 at the Bais City Pilot School with secondary school students of Bais and their families participating. It aims to encourage students to practice good nutrition by involving them in the conceptualization and execution of the paintings and help improve the nutrition situation of the City.

Based on the 2014 Operation “Timbang Plus” results, Bais is the most nutritionally-depressed city in the Central Visayas.

Meanwhile, the Department of Interior and Local Government Negros Oriental will hold a provincial disaster preparedness dialog under its “Operation Listo” movement April 15 in Dumaguete City.

This is to generate a common understanding and appreciation on the preparedness manuals, the press release said.

This is also aimed to strengthen commitment and partnership among the participants, including the media practitioners, who are recognized as essential partners in disaster risk reduction and management.*RG
