Roxas endorses creation
of island-region to PNoy

Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas announced yesterday that he has favorably endorsed the creation of a Negros Island Region to President Benigno Aquino.

The announcement of Roxas in his speech at the opening the 22 nd Panaad sa Negros Festival at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, was met with applause and cheers from a crowd of about 5,000 led by officials of Negros Occidental and Oriental.

The theme of this year's festival is “Negros: One Island, One Dream.” .moremoremore

Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said yesterday that it will be a great pride for Negrenses if Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas is elected president of the Philippines in 2016.

“For the first time in the history of the Philippines, we will be able to place in Malacañang a Negrosanon whom we can call our very own,” the governor said in what sounded like a campaign speech at the opening of the 22 nd Panaad sa Negros Festival at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

BOC takes custody of vessel,
‘smuggled' rice worth P26-M

Millions of pesos worth of an “illegal rice shipment” and other items seized in a joint anti-smuggling operation of the province's southern coast on Good Friday are now in the custody of the Bureau of Customs in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.

The Coast Guard Station Dumaguete, headed by Ensign Cecille Jimenez, turned over the seized items to the local Customs office Monday after the completion of inventory and offloading of goods from the vessel that carried them.

Datu Camad Ali, deputy Customs collector of Dumaguete, received the items in behalf of OIC Customs Collector Fe Llhuelyn Toring, who was reportedly sick but already been informed ahead about the turnover, according to Jimenez..moremoremore
