Karting Zone at Baywalk

The Bacolod Karting Zone at Baywalk at the Reclamation Area in Bacolod City opened last week for karting and motorcycle enthusiasts in the city.

Its owner, Jadd Angelo Gonzalez, said this will be launched officially on May 8 with the Bypass Kartzone restaurant that will offer seafood, snacks and drinks.

Gonzalez said he decided to open a karting and motorcycle race track in Bacolod because he wants Bacoleños to be active in motor sports and be able to compete with other racers from Iloilo, Cebu and Manila.

This is the first karting and motorcycle race track in Bacolod City that is open to the public, from those 8 years old and above. They charge a fee of P200 for four laps and this summer, they are giving a 15 percent discount, he said.

He also said they want to give racing enthusiasts a chance to experience go-kart racing that is thrilling but safe since their karts have regulated speed.

Karting and motorcycle enthusiasts can pay per ride or apply for membership, he said.

Since they started their operation last week, he said, most of their customers are first-timers, but after having driven a go-kart, they gain confidence and want to learn how to drive their own cars, he added.*CGS
