Lopez following up
fertilizer case, too

Bacolod Councilor Carl Lopez met with Commission on Audit Commissioner Heidi Mendoza on the incident involving an auditor sent from the Iloilo Regional Office 6 to check on the alleged fertilizer scam involving former Rep. Monico Puentevella, a press release from his office said.

Puentevella, was particularly mentioned in the Senate investigation chaired by then Sen. Ramon Magsaysay, the press release said.

Instead of cooperating with the investigation to shed light and clear the former Congressman's name in the alleged scam, City Legal Officer Rayfrando Diaz wrote a cease-and-desist letter addressed to Auditor Gloria Payofelin, the press release added.

Diaz also referred to the cases filed by Lopez as “frivolous”.

Commissioner Mendoza said she will give attention to the matter after going through the series of documents and correspondences exchanges pertaining to the case.

At the meeting, she decided to appoint a new team whose main task will be to study the alleged incident and will work jointly with the Office of the Ombudsman for its immediate resolution, the press release also said.*
