Region 6 dominates
PRISAA 2015

Host Region VI collected a total of260 medals in the tertiary division and 212 medals in the secondary level to rank number one in this year's national PRISAA.

The host region grabbed 97 gold, 91 silver, and 72 bronze medals in the tertiary category and was declared champion in beach volleyball, football, softball, volleyball, athletics, badminton, boxing, chess, dance sport, karatedo, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, and weightlifting competitions.

For the secondary level, Western Visayas bagged 122 gold medals, 70 silver medals, and 20 bronze medals with championships in beach volleyball, athletics, chess, karatedo, swimming and taekwondo.

Meanwhile, Bacolod City-based Ceres-La Salle football team defeated their opponents from Davao to deliver another gold medal for Western Visayas in this year's national Private Schools Athletic Association meet held in Iloilo City.

The championship game held on Thursday morning at the Central Philippine University football field, saw the West Visayan players mostly composed of players from University of St. La Salle, demolished Davao Region, 6-0.

Mentored by veteran coach Freddie “Nene” Lazarito, who also received the best coach award, the team is composed of 15 students from USLS, two from CPU, and one from the Western Institute of Technology (Iloilo).

The goals for the champion team were scored by Prince Anthony, Charles Ivan Barberan, and Joshua Sopeña.

Meanwhile, Jo Warren Bedia was awarded most valuable player while John Rex Replentis as best goal keeper, Regie Cisneres as best defender; Joshua Sopena, best striker and Aldin Teburon of Davao as best mid-fielder.

Lazarito thanked the all-out support extended by the respective schools to players and the Yanson family, operator of the Vallacar Transit, who provided financial support to the team. *NAB
