Garbanzos wins silver medal
in Asian Taekwondo tourney

Incoming Grade 8 student Shaira Isabel Garbanzos of the University of St. La Salle continued to make waves in international taekwondo stage with a silver medal finish in the cadet division of the 2015 1 st Asian Taekwondo Championships held early this week in Taiwan.

Garbanzos latest accomplishment came on the heels of her gold medal victory in Vietnam during the recent 12 th ASEAN Taekwondo Federation Championships held in Ho Chi Minh City.

A product of the Negros Taekwondo Union under the mentorship of Crystal Pauline Reyes, Garbanzos joined the competition in Vietnam and Taiwan as a member of the Philippine taekwondo team.

Region 6 dominates
PRISAA 2015

Host Region VI collected a total of260 medals in the tertiary division and 212 medals in the secondary level to rank number one in this year's national PRISAA.

The host region grabbed 97 gold, 91 silver, and 72 bronze medals in the tertiary category and was declared champion in beach volleyball, football, softball, volleyball, athletics, badminton, boxing, chess, dance sport, karatedo, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, and weightlifting competitions.

For the secondary level, Western Visayas bagged 122 gold medals, 70 silver medals, and 20 bronze medals with championships in beach volleyball, athletics, chess, karatedo, swimming and taekwondo.

Top 5 teams eye title
in NOHS bowlfest

Top five teams in the Negros Occidental High School General Alumni Homecoming Inter-class Emerald Bowling Tournament will clash for the title today at the Super Lanes and Entertainment Center of the Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Bacolod City.

Leading in the premiere division is Class '82, spearheaded by Mae Trayfalgar and Azela Tejada. The team also carries a twice-to-beat advantage after topping the elimination round.

Class '85, led by Iran Pielago, is No. 2 followed by Class'73 of Eveline Lingco. No. 4 is Batch '90 of Michael Corral, while Class'66, headed by Edgar Baldonado, completes the finalists in Class A division.
