Ninety more soldiers up for deployment in Visayas yesterday completed a six-month rigid Candidate Soldier Course at Camp Macario Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz.
Major Rey Tiongson, chief of the 3 rd Infantry Division Public Affairs Office, said the 96 candidate soldiers were sent to the 3ID by the 53 rd Engineering Brigade for basic military training and cross trained with Engineer Combat Support Operations and Orientation at the 3ID Division Training School.
Billy Joe Ramirez of Kabankalan City ranked third among the 96 graduates. He received the Commandant, 3rd Division Training School Award, by garnering an 88.54 average in all evaluated subjects, both in academics and non-academic courses.
Major Gen. Rey Leonardo Guerrero, 3ID commander, congratulated the families of the 96 new Army soldiers to be assigned at the Army Engineering Unit, and the training staff for a job well done.
In a statement issued by its Public Affairs Office, Guerrero shared with the graduates three things that he said guided him in his military service, that will surely put them on good ground as they start their own, which are discipline, duty, and dedication.
“Discipline is the hallmark of a true professional soldier that will help us to endure pain, loneliness, and hardships, and make sacrifices, so, we will be able to accomplish our mission. Duty is a code that reminds us of our sworn duty to protect and defend our country and people; respect and uphold the constitution and follow lawful orders in the performance of our mandate, and the third thing is dedication, which connotes our commitment and selfless service.”
Jamindan Mayor Ethel Jinon, who was the guest speaker, led the ceremonial entrustment of firearms to the newly appointed Army Privates.
Jinon said the soldiers are entrusted, not only with the firearms that they carry and the uniform they wear, but the responsibility of upholding, securing and defending the sovereignty, constitution, and territory against all forms of enemy, either foreign or domestic.*GPB
