The gross sales of the 22 nd Panaad sa Negros festival at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City reached P6,179,509, an increase of about 12 percent compared to last year's with only P5,542,258 .
This was disclosed by Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr, when he spoke before the crowd of more than 1,000 Negrenses at the closing rites of the festival last night.
Of the P6,179,509 total sales of the Panaad festival this year, P3,704,785 came from the LGU Pavilions, P700,000 from the garden show, P753,000 from the organic village, and the rest were from the live stock and dairy fair. These figures covered only up to noon yesterday.
San Carlos City, with a total sales of P1,312,505 , reclaimed the top grosser award, followed by Cadiz City and Calatrava town, with total income of P718,579 and P614, 727, respectively.
The awarding of winners in the competitions capped the 7-day festival.
Murcia won in the best festival dances competition and Bacolod had the best festival costume display for the city category, Pulupandan -best festival costume display for municipal category and the cleanest municipal pavilion, La Carlota – best in indigenous festival costume display city category, Calatrava – best in indigenous festival costume display and municipal best food security corner, Bago - cleanest city pavilion and Cadiz – city best food security corner.
The top five city destination pavilions were Sagay, Silay, Talisay, Bago and Cadiz, while the top five municipal destination pavilion were Calatrava, Binalbagan, Murcia, Hinigaran and Toboso.
TRADE FAIR EXHIBIT
The bamboo miniature train of Alfred Chavez from La Carlota City won in the novelty category, the bamboo lampshade of Lito Sison from Murcia won in the home accessories category, while the sofa bed of Jerry Gernadoy of Calatrava bagged the top plum in the home furnishing category.
Sabor Negrense award went to Ading's Gourmet Tuyo from Talisay city, best new product was awarded to Bamboo shoot chips of Marvin Altarez of Bago City, most innovative product was the dulce gata molasses of Emceee Domero from Silay City and the sea food cassava crackers of Anabella Bayona of Murcia town.
Gil Tabobo win the best bamboo arm chair design while Medardo Buangjug of Talisay City bagged the best bamboo desk design prize.
OTHER AWARDS
Nicole Obado of Kabankalan City won the binalaybay contest, Emil June Bantolo and Maribel Buenaflor of Bacolod City bagged the championship of the Seniors Latin Dance sports, Bryan Lacanlale and Alexandra Arias of Talisay won the juvenile Latin dance sports, and Elmar Dizon and Abemae Gestat were the champions in the amateur Latin dance sport.
Rondalla competition was won by the group from Candoni, rural Philippine folk dance – Murcia, Maria Clara Philippine folk dance – Himamaylan City and Drum and Bugle competition – San Enrique.
