IN NEG. OR.
Cops urged to continue
fight versus illegal drugs
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

Chief Supt. Prudencio Tom Bañas visited his men in Negros Oriental yesterday to encourage them to continue to fight the illegal drugs menace relentlessly.

Bañas also checked on the campaign against illegal drugs, that he describes as his administration's battle cry in the Central Visayas.

He said his visit is also to motivate and congratulate them for a job well done in their efforts against the illegal drugs problem in Negros Oriental, particularly Dumaguete City.

Bañas expressed sadness over the recent loss of a police officer who was killed in the line of duty during a buy-bust operation in Zamboanguita town, last week.

PO2 Julius Cesar Gajetos succumbed to a single stab wound on his neck when the suspected drug pusher, Marvin Salinas, allegedly attacked him.

Bañas cautioned his men to take extra precautionary measures during anti-illegal drugs operations as people who are high on drugs tend to be unpredictable in their behavior.

Bañas, also visited the wake of Gajetos in Bantayan, Dumaguete City late yesterday with OIC Negros Oriental provincial police director, Senior Supt. Mariano Natu-el Jr. and other police officers.

Gajetos is survived by his wife and five children.

Bañas also said he will see how he can give assistance to the bereaved family.

The PNP Region 7 office has so far made several accomplishments in the drug campaign although Bañas could not give specific figures.*JFP
