Senoron guv's
choice for NOPPO
BY CARLA GOMEZ & GILBERT BAYORAN

Supt. William Senoron has been recommended for provincial police director of Negros Occidental, Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said yesterday.

The papers for the long-awaited promotion of Senoron to senior superintendent had been delayed because no permanent Philippine National Police chief has been appointed yet, Marañon said.

But Marañon also said he was informed that Deputy Director General Leonardo Espina, officer-in-charge of the PNP, has been given authority to sign Senoron's promotion.

The governor said he recommended Senoron, a Bacoleño, to head the NOPPO because he has served Negros Occidental well for many years.

Senoron, who headed the Task Force Ilahas that has gone after illegal loggers in Negros Occidental, also served as police chief of Ilog, the cities of Himamaylan and Sagay, and was a commander of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Group.

Senoron is presently the head of the Philippine Bomb Data Center at Camp Crame, which is under the PNP Directorate for Intelligence.

Meanwhile, a list of nominees for provincial police director of Negros Occidental, the post vacated by Senior Supt. Milko Lirazan who retired on April 19, has been signed by Chief Supt. Josephus Angan, regional police director of Western Visayas, a DAILY STAR source said.

The list of the three nominees to be submitted to the governor reportedly includes the names of Senior Supts. Roderick Alba, Ren Darroca and Julius Lagiwid.

Supt. Jerry Bartolome, who is the NOPPO deputy provincial police director for administration, is now the NOPPO caretaker, pending the appointment of a new provincial police director.*CPG/GPB
