Palaro-bound athletes on
last phase of training

Western Visayas athletes from the primary and secondary schools across the region are entering the final phase of their training this week and will depart for Tagum City in Davao del Norte three days before the games begin on May 3 for the annual 2015 Palarong Pambansa.

Department of Education acting regional director Gemma Ledesma said 481 student-athletes would compete in 32 events, most of them are expected to advance into the finals.

The Western Visayas athletes will be billeted at Carmen Elementary and Carmen National High School, approximately 17 kilometers away from the main venue at DavNor Tourism and Sports Complex in Tagum City.

Ceres tames Soccero,
stays at No. 1 in UFL

Ceres-LaSalle FC bounced back from its Saturday loss against Global to stay on top of the UFL First Division at the end of its first-round of elimination assignments at the Rizal Memorial Complex in Manila Tuesday night.

The Bacolod-based XI dominated Soccero, 4-0, to accumulate 24 points, ahead of second-running Stallion FC, with 21 , and Global, which handed Ceres -La Salle FC its first loss, 0-2.

Global is running third in team standing with 19 points.

Spanish winger
joins Ceres FC

Ceres-La Salle FC has a new import.

The new player is Bienvenido Marañón Morejón, 28, a Spanish winger.

Ali Go, club director and head coach, confirmed Morejon's sign-up as part of the continuing team build-up.

The new player had played for Soquellamos, a Second Division team in Spain, since 2013, and made nine goals in 40 appearances.
