The Provincial Veterinary Office, through the Negros Occidental provincial government, will seek partnerships with private firms in marketing locally made dairy products like yogurt, Provincial Veterinarian Officer Renante Decena said yesterday.
Once the partnership with private firms push through, the province will only need to provide technical support to animal farm raisers.
Decena said private firms and even a mall have shown interest in partnering with the province to market local dairy products and the yoghurt produced by PVO but negotiations did not materialize.
He said PVO aims to increase the production of yoghurt and dairy products from 200 liters a day to a thousand to address future demands.
Aside from private firms, the PVO and the provincial government will also seek help from other government agencies such as the National Dairy Authority, Decena added.
Meanwhile, yogurt and dairy products were among the top grossers during the seven-day Panaad sa Negros last week, records from PVO showed yesterday.
Decena said their sale from yoghurt and other dairy products was P153,500. PVO's yoghurt comes in four variants – strawberry, vanilla, ube and pandan, he said.*APN
