bets vs. Marañon-Ferrer
BY CARLA GOMEZ
Love Negros could field candidates to challenge the tandem of Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. and Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer (Neg. Occ., 4 th District) of the United Negros Alliance in 2016.
“Nothing is definite yet, there are many possibilities. Love Negros could field candidates for governor and vice governor, for governor alone or vice governor alone,” Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said yesterday.
Lacson was reacting to the announcement of Marañon Monday that there will be no merger between the two local parties, and that Ferrer will be his runningmate in 2016.

bounty arrested in Iloilo
BY GILBERT BAYORAN
The arrested top rebel leader of Panay, Ma. Concepcion Araneta-Bocala, and elusive Negros rebel leader Frank Fernandez, a former priest, have one thing in common. Both have P7.8 million out as reward each, for their captivity, the military said.
Bocala, who is the secretary of the Komiteng Rehional-Panay (KR-P) of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army, was apprehended Saturday by combined teams of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and military intelligence operatives, by virtue of an arrest warrant for the crime of murder, in Molo, Iloilo.
The arresting officers recovered a .45 caliber pistol, a 22 caliber handgun, a hand grenade, and subversive documents from Bocala, who has the aliases of Concha, Etang, Meryl and Martha. She is now locked up in jail.
