of Love Negros top bets
BY CARLA GOMEZ
The United Negros Alliance is strong and is unfazed by the possible fielding of candidates for the top posts of Negros Occidental by Love Negros, Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. said Saturday.
It does not matter to UNA if Love Negros fields candidates against him and his runningmate Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer (Neg. Occ., 4h District), Marañon said.
“That is part of the democratic system,” he added.

Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said Saturday that he hopes the Nationalist People's Coalition leadership will allow its members to support the presidential candidate of their choice.
NPC members from the Visayas and Mindanao are set to join a consultative meeting at their party's clubhouse at Balete Drive in Quezon City tomorrow where the choice of a potential presidential candidate for 2016 is expected to be discussed.
Lacson and NPC Negros chairman Isidro Zayco have declared their support for Liberal Party standard bearer Mar Roxas.

Silliman marks
114th Founders Day
The 114 th Founders Day celebration of Silliman University in Dumaguete City opened with a Sunday service at the SU Church yesterday, with Dr. Everett Mendoza, former vice president for Academic Affairs of SU, and now professor at the Divinity School, as guest speaker.
This year's theme, “Via, Veritas, Vita: Now and Always”, is inspired by a Biblical passage taken from John 14:6: “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me'”, a press release from Silliman said.
Founders Day in Silliman is a tourist attraction in itself. It gathers alumni, friends and tourists from around the country and abroad to a celebration of friendship.
