PNoy to look into
complaints on balikbayan

MANILA – Malacañang yesterday assured that President Benigno Aquino III will look into the feedback and complaints received by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) regarding the bureau's new regulation to randomly open balikbayan boxes in a bid to curb smuggling in the country.

”We have received a lot of open letters and messages through Facebook and e-mails. We're collecting these and we'll make sure these will be given to President Aquino,” Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte said in a Radyo ng Bayan interview.

Valte thanked the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) for their response to the BOC's directive.

Modified computer designs and gaming tournaments were the attractions at the SMX Cyberzone in Bacolod City during the weekend.

For some, it could be a fun and a worthwhile hobby, but for members of CARBON (Computer-enthusiasts And Rig Builders of Negros), it has become a source of income.

Technicians, graphic artists, designers, web editors, programmers, computer gamers, engineers, teachers, nurses, students, accountants, business owners and professionals, who are CARBON members, use their skills and knowledge in computer assembly, programming, gaming, repair and development for hardware and software.

MANILA-- Even with the nationwide rollout still a few weeks away, the Social Security System's new retirement savings program for local workers has already drawn over 100 enrollees, with total investments now past the P1-million mark since its limited launch in 10 SSS branches in Metro Manila last May 2015.

Agnes San Jose, SSS Vice President for Benefits Administration, said a total of 163 members to date have invested P1.4 million in the SSS Personal Equity and Savings Option (PESO) Fund, a voluntary provident program enabling local workers to save for retirement in a tax-free facility with guaranteed earnings.
