PNoy to look into
complaints on balikbayan

Modified computer designs and gaming tournaments were the attractions at the SMX Cyberzone in Bacolod City during the weekend.

For some, it could be a fun and a worthwhile hobby, but for members of CARBON (Computer-enthusiasts And Rig Builders of Negros), it has become a source of income.

Technicians, graphic artists, designers, web editors, programmers, computer gamers, engineers, teachers, nurses, students, accountants, business owners and professionals, who are CARBON members, use their skills and knowledge in computer assembly, programming, gaming, repair and development for hardware and software.

They aim to promote computer enthusiasm and introduce “Rig Building (high end-computers)”, CARBON head, Gene Sibaya, said.

Since 2012, the group has conducted several activities that serve as experience for the participants, sponsors, and host for the further development of their products and professionalism in the industry.

CARBON offers goods and services, including computer and electronic hardware and software products, diagnostics and repair, installation, maintenance and development, parts replacement, education and tutorials and seminars.

However, since it is a non-profit organization, payments do not go to CARBON but to its members.

They have Local Area Network (LAN) Parties and Rig Shows/Exhibits which the conduct at least every six months to market and share their computer enthusiasm to the public.

This promotes a healthy competition between the members' improvements, creativity and professionalism in playing computer games, graphic designing, web designing, editing and building Rigs.

Then they have Weekend Rig Building, wherein they voluntarily assemble computers for their clients.

For CARBON, they are ‘101 percent‘ active on Facebook and other communication mediums. They have daily product updates by which they talk about computer sales, services and hardware products. Market and showcase is a kind of strategy by which they advertise their hardware and software updates and share it with everyone.

Sibaya invites students, gamers and IT professionals to join in the wide array of their activities. “Let us promote IT and gaming industry in Negros,” he said.

Another exhibit and gaming competition will be held on Aug. 28-30 at SMX Cyberzone *
