Pride of Negros
Bacolod “math wizards” Natalia Beatrice Dy, and twins Christopher James and Christian Jacob Yap, brought pride and honor to the Philippines recently, by winning several international awards.
Dy, who is a math program completer of A Child's Place Kumon Center, came in seventh in the Under-21 category of the individual contests of the 2015 World Junior Sudoku Championship held in Beijing, China. She was also a member of the Philippine team that won second place in the Under-21 team category.
She is one of only nine Filipino contestants who were among the 200 students who set a Guinness World Record for solving the largest multi-Sudoku puzzle. She continued her winning streak by taking home a bronze medal in the China Girls Math Olympiad held in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China August 10-14. Dy was the only delegate in the 5-member team, who was not from Metro Manila.
Two other students of A Child's Place Kumon Center in Bacolod helped the Philippines finish first, with 216 medals, at the recently-concluded 11 th International Mathematics Contest in Singapore, participated in by China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore. Christopher James Yap won a gold medal and his twin brother, Christian Jacob, went home with a silver medal.

The town of Candoni in Negros Occidental recently celebrated the 54 th Tablas Valley founding anniversary, led by Mayor Cicero, first lady Linda, and Celine Borromeo.
The town started as the center of the Tabla Valley Settlement, founded in 1935, by Santiago Diego from Isabela, who was the grandfather of mayor Cicero.

It was an unforgettable “Inside Out” 5 th birthday party for Chelsea Javellana, with her classmates and friends.
She is the daughter of Julia and Jetro Javellana, and the celebration was held at Delicioso Deli, where the second floor was transformed by Ai-ai Abong into an “Inside Out” movie themed party. Personalized “Inside Out” pouches with the kids' names were given as tokens.*
