Former Negros Occidental Vice Governor Dino Yulo yesterday said that he is available to run either for congressman or as board member of the 5th district in the May elections next year.
Yulo, who was defeated twice by his uncle, Rep. Alejandro Mirasol, in the 5th district congressional race, said that the present political climate in the 5th district seems to be favorable for him.
“But we need to process the whole development in the 5th district”, said Yulo, who ran for congressman in the 2013 election under the Love-Negros banner, although he is a member of the Nacionalista Party.
The relationship of Mirasol and his long-time ally, Binalbagan Mayor Emmanuel Aranda, has a perceived crack, following reports that the solon is fielding his wife, Mary Ann, in the town mayoral race next year.
Yulo ruled out reports that he may run for vice governor in next year's polls, in tandem with Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, should he decide to challenge incumbent Gov. Alfredo Marañon.
“I've been there,” Yulo said.
Yulo admitted that he has been invited and had attended several meetings of Love-Negros.
Asked if Lacson will consider running for governor in the 2016 elections, Yulo said “I think he will consider the whole political landscape before he makes a final decision”.*GPB
