BY CARLA GOMEZ

Heavy rains and strong winds brought on by Typhoon Ineng and a tornado affected 136 persons and slammed seven houses in Negros Occidental late last week, Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer, said yesterday.

He said a tornado hit barangays Zone 1-A, Pag-ayon, Tapong and Patic in Pulupandan town, destroying four houses and damaging three others.

The tornado also affected seven families with 28 individuals, he said,

The provincial government extended financial assistance to the families whose houses were destroyed, he added.

He said a flashflood also affected 30 families with 120 members in Barangay San Isidro, Pontevedra, who evacuated on Thursday and returned to their houses when the water subsided the next day.*CPG
