Monico disappointed,
wants flyovers stopped
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella said yesterday that he is disappointed that the Department of Public Works and Highways failed to fund the sugar road from Barangays Sum-ag to Bata in Bacolod City he had requested after its engineering study had been completed in 2003 yet.

This was his reaction to the announcement of Bacolod Rep. Evelio Leonardia that work has started on the new, P790-million “Bacolod Economic Highway” that will interconnect Barangay Sum-ag to the Bacolod-Silay Airport Access Road, passing through Barangays Cabug, Felisa, Mansilingan, Estefania, Mandalagan, and Bata.

Leonardia said the 21-kilometer road to be funded by the DPWH will showcase the agro-industrial and tourism potentials of southern and eastern parts of Bacolod and will stimulate economic activities in the area.moremoremore
