The senior citizen who was injured after tripping over two bags at the Bacolod Silay Airport filed a criminal complaint against a Bacolod businessman yesterday for reckless imprudence resulting in serious physical injuries, her lawyer Renecito Novero said.

The complaint docketed as NPS-VI-19-INV-15B-00038 was filed against John Marie Lizares before the Silay  City Prosecutor’s Office by Rosario Hofileña, 64, of Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City, who cited  qualifying circumstance of failure  to lend assistance on the spot.

Espina weeps, cites
‘overkill’ of  SAF men

Tears fell as Philippine National Police officer-in-charge Deputy Director General Leonardo Espina recounted the medico-legal report on the  brutal killing of the members of the Special Action Force in yesterday’s joint hearing of the House Committee on Public Order and Safety, and Peace, Unification and Unity.

Espina, who had to stop while trying to control his emotions, said he had sleepless nights after learning from the medico-legal report that one of his men, who was only slightly wounded, was shot at close range.

“This is overkill,” Espina told the joint panel investigating the death of 44 SAF members in Mamasapano on Jan. 25 chaired by Rep. Jeffery Ferrer (Neg. Occ., 4th District).moremoremore

Duterte shrugs off presidency
talks, promotes federal gov’t
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte again shrugged off reports that he will seek the presidency in the 2016 elections when he visited Dumaguete City Wednesday to promote federalism in schools as well as meet with local officials.

Duterte’s visit was earlier reported to be part of a tour to “listen to the people” and determine his chances in the presidential race next year.

Former North Cotabato Gov. Manny Piñol, a staunch supporter of Duterte, had said before the mayor’s visit that it is up to him to decide on this. He said Duterte’s visit was part of a campaign to promote his advocacy for a federal system of government.moremoremore
