Monitoring team urged
for resizing of EDC plant

A multi-partite monitoring team is being recommended for the proposed resizing of the capacity of the Energy Development Corporation- Northern Negros Geothermal Power Plant in Brgy. Mailum, Bago City, Negros Occidental.

Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. has endorsed the creation of the monitoring team for approval to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental.

Marañon requested for approval, and for authority from the SP to sign the memorandum of agreement between the Departments of Environment and Natural Resources as well as Energy, provincial government of Negros Occidental, local governments of Bago and Murcia, barangays of Mailum and Minoyan,. Ma-ao Parish Human Development Corp. and EDC-NNGP on the creation of the multi-partite monitoring team.

Asia Brewery union pickets

About 80 members and officers of the Asia Brewery labor union marched from the Provincial Capitol Lagoon to the office of the Department of Labor and Employment in Bacolod City, at about 2 p.m. yesterday.

Regional coordinator Jun Año, of the Bulwaran ng Manggagawa said they are asking the DOLE to continue the elections of the union, that was supposedly scheduled yesterday.

The DOLE issued a last-minute ruling to pre-empt the elections, Tuesday, which the union members and leaders do not find right, Año said.
